The catalogue of the Mood/ Humor exhibition that was held
between 1 March and 24 June 2012 and that consisted of work from
the collection belonging to the Paula Rego Foundation/ Casa das
Histórias Paula Rego, gives an account of the dialogue established
with paintings from the Possessão (Possession)
series (2004) belonging to the Serralves Museum and Jenufa
(1995), on loan from a private collection.
As the second part of her trajectory, O Corpo tem mais cotovelos
(The Body has more elbows) was displayed as the exhibition's
starting point. The title's incisiveness was taken from what Paula
Rego herself had said and showed that apart from being the object
of the drawing, above all, the body is the sensitive matter of
feelings that go deeper. A reflection is made about these inner
states made visible in her paintings, representing and showing the
humours, emotional states and feelings which are always present in
the artist's work.
